The adventurous trek of tech enthusiasts on the deck of nature
A team outing was long overdue. And what could be more relieving than going out on a weekday? So, on one fine Wednesday, the Bugsmirror team went out for a trek. Away from the hustle-bustle of Indore city, our destination was - Junapani Waterfall 🤩. It is situated amidst the hills & forest of Junapani, a small village near Simrol, about 30 km from Indore.
Early in the morning, we gathered at our office. The weather was pleasant and everyone was very excited about the trek. We boarded a traveller and began our journey towards Junapani Waterfall.
Our first stop was Apna Sweets, Rau, where we had a fulfilling breakfast of Poha, Jalebis, Kachoris, tea & coffee. Then we went further and reached a substation in Memdi village, Simrol. During the journey, we listened to music, gossiped with each other, and enjoyed a lot.
The trek was organized in coordination with “Malwa Trekkers” and 2 of their professional trekkers accompanied us. We got down at the substation and prepared our trekking kit that included water bottles, chocolates, fruits, etc. The sun was shining bright. We started our trek on foot, which was approximately 3.5 km long.
Initially, the path was straight and plain. As the trek progressed, the terrain became uneven and steep. There were many small stones and big rocks in the path. They were so slippery that whenever we stepped on them, they would start rolling, making us stumble. Maintaining one's balance while continuing to climb up and down was very challenging.
I got scared 😨 and wanted to return. I said, “Why are we doing this? What’s the need of doing this? I am not doing this! I am going back!!” But my team's support inspired me to continue the trek towards the waterfall. Everyone was very supportive and helped each other move safely.
Along the trek, whenever we crossed a few hills, we spent quite some time there. The surrounding forest, the mountains, and the valleys were so green, enchanting, and mesmerizing! We couldn’t stop gushing at nature’s beauty. The pleasant scenery was a treat for the eyes!
We clicked many photographs, selfies & groufies.
Slowly & steadily, we continued our trek and finally reached the Junapani Waterfall.
There was no mobile network at the waterfall. We put down our bags, removed our shoes, and got lost in the lap of nature 💚.
We sat and enjoyed seeing the water falling from above and flowing through the narrow passages between the rocks. Then we stood near the waterfall to feel the cool breeze. A few knew swimming 🏊. So they jumped in the water and enjoyed every bit of it. Some others crossed the water passage with the help of a harness.
The day became perfect as it rained 🌧️ at the waterfall! The water flow became more intense. We sat carefully wherever we were, and moved a little, only when necessary. Once the rain stopped, we had refreshments. We waited for all of us and our accessories to dry.
Then it was time to start the trek backwards. No one was in the mood to leave such a heavenly place. But we began going back towards the substation in Memdi village.
While going back was not as difficult as reaching the waterfall, it was still arduous as the rain made the track muddy. Within minutes, I was again saying the same lines: “Why are we doing this? …. (You have read them before)”. But of course, I continued walking (Did I have any other choice 🤷♂️?).
Throughout the trek, we played songs to keep us entertained. We came across many different plants, trees, flowers, and rocks, which you hardly find in cities. Finally, we reached the substation and the trek ended. Some of us almost fell down on the bench.
After resting at the substation for around 20 to 25 minutes, we started our journey back to Indore. We didn’t have lunch yet and were very hungry. So, we again stopped at Apna Sweets, Rau, to have a late evening lunch. One of our colleagues had his birthday that day. We celebrated it with a cake cutting ceremony.
While waiting for lunch to arrive, each one of us shared our experiences from the trek. Most of us said that it was their first trek, and initially they were scared, but the natural scenery was worth all the hardships. This trek inspired us to take part in more treks, explore new things & places, and take on new challenges in our lives. It also strengthened our team bonding. We finished our lunch and reached Indore by evening.
What an adventurous day it was! This was my first ever trek experience. It was a little scary, but too much fun. I was extremely satisfied 😌 that, somehow, I had completed the trek. Walking for around 7 km, that too in uneven terrain, burnt calories equivalent to exercising half an hour daily for a week.
Whether it’s work time or fun time, Bugsmirror team always has a great time!
Reading this blog post would have excited you about Junapani Waterfall, right? So, why not plan your next outing there, with family, friends, or office colleagues? Make sure to carry enough water, refreshments, umbrellas/raincoats, and a first-aid kit along with you. Hope you have fun there as we all did!
