Journey of a Non-Tech intern
Things don’t happen the way we think they should, they just happen. Candidly writing when Covid sucked the pith of life out of us, I never thought I would make it to bugsmirror, since it was the first company I applied to, but here I am and it happened. Gala!!!!
Enough with the celebration already, now you all will be wondering how do I get an internship like this and blah...blah...blah…, that’s a different story. Drop a comment if you want to know the secret. Lol just kidding, well if there was a secret, I call it “grabbing on to the opportunity”. Have some self belief and apply for it and give your best.
Just like that I started my internship right after selection from mid january, bit of both excitement and nervousness but as I moved forward with the onboarding process, excitement was all that was left. I was a part of small non-tech team at bugsmirror, everyone’s busy finishing their tasks, I was also assigned a task with few resources for help. Instead of freaking out, I knocked on the creative door of my mind and finished my task with aplomb. I was happy as I just did something useful in my initial days of internship that I never thought I would ever do or would be doing in near future, but this is just the starting. It was all hunky dory until I was given another task, I followed the same process again, doing things I never thought I could do and if impeded by something then we all are alice and google is that hole to wonderland that we all can jump into and if that’s not enough, there were always people around you to talk and get guidance.
Journey’s like this are always full of ups and downs but believe me it is really exciting to manage every last thing except the code. An important aspect about working in a startup as a non-tech intern is the variety of stuff I deal with. The advantage of dealing with this stuff is that I have something new and something challenging every time and also I will be able to use my skills to the best of my abilities. It’s not just the variety but the responsibilities that commensurates with time. At one I was just an intern trying to finish my task too being part of the hiring team to actually manage new interns on a daily basis. Ohh! Goosebumps, are you thinking the same as me, isn’t this exciting. I bet it is. It’s been more than 5 months now and I am still equally excited everyday. So next time you see an opportunity like this you know exactly what to do. Ciao!!!
